Boardmasters Festival 2018 was the third year that I have been there photographing for Cornwall Live.
Since I moved to Cornwall in 2005 I have attended most years and have seen the festival grow & evolve from it’s roots as a Surf Festival. Surfing is still at the heart of the festival. But the music now plays a huge and important part to Boardmasters.
Boardmasters 2018 saw headliners Catfish & the Bottlemen, The Chemical Brothers & George Ezra perform to 50,000 people. The site at Watergate Bay is huge now compared to when I first attended in 2005.
With twelve stages & area’s to the festival there is pretty much something for everyone. And as the Boardmasters website states ‘Discover carefully curated stages that play host to a world of talent; ranging from local acoustic artists, to mind-bending visual performers, via world-class international headliners’.
I spend most of the weekend between the Main Stage and the Land of the Saints Stage. But managed to see & shoot at the other stages & areas: Unleashed, The Point, The View, Keg & Pasty and the Netloft.
I do love this festival and being a Wedding Photographer in Cornwall means that August is a very busy time. But I always try & keep the weekend free to enjoy a different side of my photography.
As always, thanks to Lee at Cornwall Live for letting me shoot again, Liam at SW1 Productions and the team at LD Communications. It’s been a pleasure to work alongside you.
