Christmas weddings already have a touch of rebellion about them. Dark nights, wild weather, glittering lights cutting through the midwinter gloom, and Scorrier House in Cornwall is the perfect backdrop for a Christmas Wedding celebration that leans into that atmosphere rather than shying away from it.

Scorrier House Wedding | Abi & Olly

I first met Abi when our daughter started nursery. Abi was Martha’s first key worker and did an amazing job of settling her into the new surroundings. So it was fantastic when Abi & Olly asked me to be their wedding photographer.

Abi & Olly met on a night out in Falmouth. Abi was standing at the bar rocking some dance moves (big fish, little fish, cardboard box), and Olly went over to Abi and said, ‘I’ve got better moves than that.’ They exchanged numbers, and the rest is history.

For their Christmas wedding, they chose Scorrier House in Redruth, Cornwall.  They loved the grand entrance and the orangery.  I spent time with both Abi & Olly in the morning.  Abi was getting ready with the girls and Olly with the boys downstairs as the Cornish Male Voice Choir warmed up and kept everyone entertained.

Abi’s entrance down the sweeping staircase to the ceremony was Olly’s favourite part of the day, and a few tears were shed.  
Everyone got to enjoy a little time outside and take in the stunning gardens. The rest of the day was spent inside the beautifully decorated Scorrier House.  The speeches were hilarious, and later in the evening both Abi & Olly showed off those dance moves from when they first met.

To quote Abi ‘It really was the best day. Congratulations, Abi & Olly and thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your Scorrier House Wedding.
